Thanks to Melinda from Diaries of A White Mother, I am pretty floaty and relaxed at the moment. See, Melinda organised for the Joburg finalists of the Kidz World mommy blogger competition to have a treatment with Tracey from Pure Hair in Parktown North.
It took me a couple of weeks to decide what I wanted, and ended up choosing reiki, a Japanese form of healing that promotes stress reduction and relaxation. It is said to treat body, emotions and mind, and interestingly, doesn’t involve any touching – just a lot of hand movements working with energies. And since I’m not a huge fan of being massaged and prodded, and since I’d once had a beautiful reiki treatment, this was a good choice.
From the onset, I was relaxed and calm, and fell into mini naps. It’s hard to explain the process – you don’t feel anything, but you feel everything. I felt quite shaky afterwards but very peaceful and calm. It was a very profound experience too, and Tracey said that I had some heart “blockages” – nothing to do with arteries or capillaries, but more about emotions. And I pretty much know it – I tend to keep my heart and emotions quite guarded and “private”.
I definitely plan to go back for relaxation and holistic healthcare, as I’d call it.
