Before I go into what the brand has been up, I thought I’d just let you know (for those whose kids aren’t that age, or for those who don’t know), that Nestlé Nespray FortiGrow is designed for school age children from 5 to 14 years old.Nestlé NESPRAY kids have a healthy, nutritional and balanced diet, and the need for a supplement isn’t really necessary. However, a significant percentage of school-age children (5 – 14 years old) in South Africa suffering from both macro and micro nutrient deficiencies, which is why NESPRAY Fortigrow milk with its blend of essential vitamins, minerals and macro nutrients, is vital for a child’s health.A few weeks ago there was a NESPRAY media trip in Mossel Bay, which I unfortunately missed, which showed how the company is working with South African dairy farmers to achieve global standards in milk production.Nestlé says that they work with farmers and nutritional scientists to not only standardise the milk that goes into the NESPRAY full milk powder, but the milk powder itself, so that every sip has the same nutritional value. One of the farmers that supplies large amounts of milk to the Nestlé
factory in Mossel Bay is George Kuyler of Skimmelkrans Farm. He and his family have had a relationship with Nestlé for more than 60 years, and they now have a high-tech dairy that produces the highest-quality milk. The cows’ diet is pasture based as grass-based diets
are known to provide better milk yields with higher milk fat levels – this equates to more protein for kids. The cows milked are free of any antibiotics or hormones, further ensuring the superior quality of the milk. Also, and this is a really interesting part: each of the 37 farm workers take care to maintain their daily routine to avoid unnecessary stress to the cows with any kind of changes or
shifts in their daily lives, as apparently a happy cow delivers better milk. There’s also an irrigation system to ensure optimal water levels for the growth of grass. The Nestlé NESPRAY factory receives around 400 tonnes of fresh milk from the surrounding farms every day, including Skimmelkrans, which provides around 22 000 litres. Many of the farms are situated in remote locations and only produce a limited amount of milk. However, Nestlé sees the value in even the smallest farms in order to uplift outlying communities.Nestlé NESPRAY supports local farmers to boost employment and community development while ensuring quality products.
