The Neon Run is for everyone, whether you’re a sprinter, walker, jogger or plodder, or total newbie at exercise, and sponsors Discovery Vitality are giving away two entries, worth R250 each, to any of the events this month and next in PE, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Durban and Johannesburg – it’s up to you!

The events are family-friendly 5km runs that happen at 6.30pm, and followed by a music festival and concert. There are food stalls for post-run fuelling, and the dress code is neon or glow in the dark. Gates to each event starts at 3pm, and kids under 11 are welcome to run (and get a reduced entry fee of R90).

For those who are starting out at exercise, or looking for a new club to join, the Neon Run sponsors, Discovery, have launched Team Vitality for runners, walkers and cyclists. Any member of Discovery Health or Life can join Team Vitality, and here’s what’s really great about joining (and trust me – most clubs are more expensive, and don’t offer these kinds of perks):

• The running club membership (which includes a race licence number) costs R300 a year for membership, and cycling R600 a year.
