I love it when parties involve fun, well thought out and get-your-hands-dirty-and-creative activities, and this bunny party that Stephanie Louw arranged for her two-year-old daughter Zoey's birthday is a wonderful example of that. I'm also inspired by parties that stick to beautiful basics, and aren't overly reliant on expensive frills, decor and entertainment.
Says Stephanie: "For Zoey's second birthday, we had a party at our house, with family and friends. We had it iearly in the morning, when all the kids were still happy. Ever since she was la baby, her comfort toy has been her bunny which she's still held onto, so I thought what better theme for her party than bunnies!"
"For the activities I put out containers, each with a different theme: baking, construction, spaghetti, the wild, and gardening. I also had a sandpit, musical area, scooter bikes (the black ones we all had when we were young) and a trampoline.
"For the party packs, the only I knew that I didn't want was a bag full of sweets and China-store toys. Instead, I made some play dough and each child got a container with blue, gree, and pink play dough. They also got a small bag with Lego, stickers, crayons, little book to draw in, a packet of mini Marie biscuits and a small pack of Toppers biscuits."
Stephanie's party-planning tips:
– Start ahead of time if you are doing it all yourself.
– Have grandparents there to keep little one busy while you set it all up.
– Don't worry to much about food for the kids, especially if they are small. For them its more about having fun
